CHALLENGE

Located in Lombardy, Passo Foscagno stands at 2,291 meters, serving as an important link between Bormio in the Valtellina valley and the duty-free zone and ski hub of Livigno. This pass is a favorite among cyclists seeking high-altitude challenges.

The ascent from Bormio is a long, gradual climb, winding its way to Passo Foscagno’s toll booths. However, the often crowded road can detract from the experience in this otherwise picturesque region. On the Livigno side, the climb originates in Trepalle, presenting a shorter and relatively easier stretch of 3-4 kilometers. Essentially, this climb is a continuation of the Deux Mille climb, Passo Eira, beginning in Livigno and descending briefly to Trepalle.

More than just a thoroughfare, Passo Foscagno is a destination, drawing tourists and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Its closeness to Livigno enhances its charm, offering a mix of recreational pursuits and duty-free shopping. The pass’s lofty elevation and stunning scenery ensure its place as a highlight in the Italian Alps. The surrounding area is rich with Deux Mille climbing options, accessible from all around Livigno.
